THERE’S A WAY

c-1999 Raphael Giglio

There’s a way we can live if we learn to forgive

We can push back the demons behind us

With compassion and grace we can come to a place where our sorrow and shame can not find us.

There’s a way we can go if we learn and we grow

And we don’t pass our pain to another

And when hurt comes our way

It will not have to stay

We’ll have pain but we won’t have to suffer.

And there’s a way that we can win, if we could learn how to give in.

And the way that we should go is straight, and narrow.

There’s a tree by a lake that I once thought I’d take and I’d make it the place of my promise

And a woman who stood with me there in the in the woods and a heart with our names written on it.

But the years passed us by and the feelings ran dry,

And the smiles disappeared off of her face.

And soon I could see neither she nor the tree, ever belonged to me in the first place.

And there’s a way that we can win, if we could learn how to give in.

And there’s a way that we should go, but it’s straight, and narrow.
