Lately I've been thirsting deeper water, to keep alive my hunger for the truth.

to put aside hypocracy and my own mediocraty

and go back to the first-love of my youth.

I sometimes am amazed at my own weakness.

Like a child who's learned to stand but not to walk

Am I a former radical who's taken a sabbatical and really can't do anything but talk.

What happened to the Jesus of the Bible? Who taught humility and sacrifice,

I'm bored with Christianity that's based on pride and vanity

I wish we all would heed the Lord's advice.

Comfort, fun and pleasure seem to steal our heart's desire

but they bring with them an emptiness that yearns for Holy fire,

And we used to sing the song "though none go with me I will follow"

Now we need to sing that song again.
